Locations of Proshop Otsuka Stores

Locations of Our 6 Proshop Otsuka Stores in the Same Area Trout Hotspot Our stores are located in the heart of Japan’s most active Area Trout region.

Because we are based near the heart of Japan’s Area Trout scene, we have focused heavily on trout tackle for more than 20 years. Our stores have supported countless tournament anglers, beginners to professionals, and our staff have deep knowledge of modern trout fishing.

This regional advantage—being close to where anglers actually fish—has shaped our store for decades and is one of the reasons customers trust our expertise in trout tackle.

About Our Custom-Built Online Store

Troutshop.jp — Website Interface in 2001

Our e-commerce history began in 1999 with the launch of our sister site bass.co.jp, one of Japan’s earliest online tackle stores. As our business grew, we launched troutshop.jp in 2001, originally as an online store focused on trout fishing.

Today, Troutshop.jp is a completely custom-built platform designed and developed in-house by Hiroshi, a long-time angler and systems developer at Proshop Otsuka. Unlike generic e-commerce systems, our platform is optimized specifically for anglers, ensuring fast browsing and easy product discovery.

Instead of using a generic e-commerce system, we designed our own structure to make browsing fast and intuitive for anglers. We also operate separate domains for different fishing styles—bass, trout, saltwater, herabuna—so you can easily find exactly what you need.

The word “Troutshop” is a term we originally coined, and it has since been adopted by anglers overseas. We are proud that our name has grown to represent Japanese trout fishing culture worldwide.

Why Choose Us

Real In-Stock Items

Some online tackle shops in Japan list inventory data provided by wholesalers or manufacturers. In those cases:

• The product may “appear in stock” but is actually sold out
• The shop does not physically have the item
• Shipping may be delayed for many days or even weeks

Our store operates differently. We list only the real, physical stock held in our seven brick-and-mortar stores. Every item you see is genuinely available, sitting on an actual shelf, ready to ship.

Benefits for you:
• Almost no “out of stock after ordering” problems
• Very fast dispatch
• Accurate inventory you can rely on
• What you order is exactly what you receive

This policy has remained unchanged since 1999 and is one of the main reasons anglers worldwide trust our shop.

Real Product Photos — Taken In-House

We spend an incredible amount of time photographing our products — every single day.
Many area trout lure makers are very small workshops. Some don’t even have official websites, and very few manufacturers provide photos of all color variations. That’s why we do it ourselves — for our customers.
Each package is carefully opened, photographed, and then returned neatly to its original condition. For spoons, there is a front and a back, which means double the work. After that, every image is carefully adjusted in Photoshop before being uploaded to our website. This is not quick work. But we do it every day.
Over the past 20+ years, we have taken hundreds of thousands of product photos. All so our customers can see the real product before ordering — and shop with confidence.

Fast International Shipping

FedEx shipments to the U.S. and Italy can arrive in as little as 3 business days. Because we ship large volumes internationally, we receive special volume discounts, allowing us to offer lower shipping rates than standard FedEx prices.

Why we recommend FedEx:
• Extremely fast delivery (often 3–5 business days)
• Precise and detailed tracking
• Very low trouble rate
• Discounted shipping fees due to our volume contract

EMS remains an economical option, but delivery times vary by country and delays are more common.

Note:
Our store closes only on Tuesdays, but FedEx does not operate on weekends or Japanese national holidays. As a result, there are nearly 120 non-operational days per year when FedEx cannot collect or process shipments. This may occasionally delay the start of transit, but once the shipment enters the FedEx network, delivery is consistently very fast.
